Carnelian

About Carnelian

This semi-translucent quartz-family stone naturally ranges in color from orange to red. These particular beads were mined in Africa and are heat treated to give them an intense, rich red color.

I usually only offer stones that have not had their natural color altered, but all Carnelian beads currently available on the market are heat treated (not dyed) to enhance their natural red color.

There are few non-dyed stones that offer the color range of either natural or heat-treated Carnelian, and with or without heat treatment Carnelian is regarded as a metaphysically powerful stone.

Rather than having less of a polish than standard polished stones, these matte-finish stones are polished to the same smooth finish as standard polished stones but then go through an extra polish where the glossy sheen is removed, leaving a soft finish that has a wonderful feel.
