Madre de Cacao Wood Mala

Madre de Cacao Wood Mala

Regular price $35.00
This 108 bead Madre de Cacao wood mala is available strung on light green hemp cord or premium 49-strand, flexible steel beading wire.

The hemp cord is a wonderful choice if you're looking for a completely natural mala while the beading wire excels for durability if you plan to use your mala frequently. A little slack is left on both versions so that there's enough room to shift the beads while counting.

Traditionally the Tibetan disk-shaped mala beads were made of bone. This one is created from rich earth tones of Madre de Cacao wood from the Philippines.* The spacers are large pili nuts centered between 10mm old palmwood beads.

The guru bead is also a pili nut that leads to a handmade tassel, which is unfurled variegated green hemp cord. This natural mala hangs about 12" plus the 4" tassel and guru bead.

*The beads used to make these malas are imported directly from the Philippines and are a natural, handmade item. As such there can be notable variation between batches. While they're all "10mm" wide beads, the Madre de Cacao beads that I'm currently using are slightly smaller and darker than the ones pictured, and are absolutely gorgeous.
